Bilingual, NYC-based artist Charles Rojas grew up in Norwalk, CA with mixed Ecuadorian, Venezuelan, and American culture. As a result, he’s influenced by everything from Funk, R&B, and Hip Hop, to Cumbia, Pasillos Ecuatorianos, and Reggaeton. His 2020 Funk-Pop track Plans Fall Through was featured in Remezcla’s Nuevo Noise roundup as a “delightfully intimate house party” while his 2022 bilingual Reggaeton single Spanglish was featured in KEXP’s “Best Latin Music 2022” Spotify playlist and the SoundCloud Editorial playlist “Emerging Latin Music” Fresco.”

Now in 2024, Rojas has NOT turned his back on multi-genre experimentation, but he is following one simple rule for the time being: Great guitar-based songs within the Funk, Latin, and Disco realms. His 2023 Nu Disco track I Only Want You (a collaboration with DSCOSTU and Fancy Feelings) was featured in Spotify’s New Music Friday Dance & Poolside Disco editorial playlists. Rojas will be releasing his first complete set of Disco-Funk-Pop songs on October 11, 2024 with his debut album Plans Fall Through.

In addition to releasing original music as an artist, Charles is highly experienced in creating custom music for visual media. Having worked as a Senior Composer at Squeak E Clean Studios and now as a freelancer, Charles has composed original music for dozens of commercials and short films. Clients include Google, Meta, Facebook, Nintendo, Toyota, BMW, Kia, Chapstick, and more. The short film “Oh-Cha” directed by Lilan Bowden, with an original score by Charles, made it’s debut at the 2023 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Charles continues to work in original composition while releasing his own music and performing live.
